Dr. Jay Whittle

Veterinarian

Dr. Whittle is a Kentucky native. He studied at the University of Kentucky before being accepted to Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1987. He spent time practicing in Wilmington, North Carolina before moving here to work for Palos Animal Hospital in 1989, then opened Mill Creek Animal Clinic in 1991.

Dr. Whittle loves all aspects of Veterinary Medicine, but he especially enjoys surgery. He has been doing ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) repairs for years as well as many other surgeries. Dental surgical extractions, medial patellar luxations, splenectomies, intestinal surgery (dogs and cats eat a lot of weird stuff) and urinary bladder surgery are just a few of his favorite procedures, and he enjoys continuing to learn from each case.

Dr. Whittle’s time off is spent with his wife Jane and their three teenagers Olivia, Dolan, and Cecilia. His family has inherited his passion for animals, and they share their home with their dog Ricky, two cats (Scout and Boo Radley), a bearded dragon (Flames), half a dozen dart frogs and a Pac Man frog, fish, and a few bee hives. (SAVE THE BEES!)

Dr. Whittle has built a successful practice by treating his patients and their humans with compassion and a well known bedside manner. A constant desire to learn keeps him current with the advances in veterinary medicine. He may be an “old school” vet, but the new school therapies and treatments have their place at Mill Creek too.
